VLC did not confirm exactly which platforms will be supported, but given that Android is on the list support may also come to Windows.
When we asked Francois Cartegnie, a VLC developer, he noted that VLC was modular and if the modules are transferable the feature may come to other platforms.

Update: We have now received positive confirmation from one of the developers that VLC indeed is working on bringing support for AirPlay for Windows. We reached out to Felix Paul Kühne who is a developer for VLC and he confirmed that VLC will add support for AirPlay on Windows in the future.
It will be available on any platform like with the current Chromecast support 🙂

VLC will be celebrating another milestone soon. The company confirmed that they’re closing in on 3 billion downloads. They didn’t confirm the current numbers but the team behind VLC deserves the success.
